UEFA president Michel Platini has announced that he will resign from his role in 2019 if he fails to win FIFA's top job in next February's election.
The three-time world player of the year has been in charge at UEFA since replacing Lennart Johansson in January 2007 and revealed that he would run for the same position at FIFA in July after Sepp Blatter confirmed that he would be stepping down.
At a press conference,
the former French international refused to be drawn into speaking about his campaign for the FIFA presidency, but did clarify what his next move would be if he failed to be voted in.
Asked if he would leave UEFA if he was unsuccessful in the FIFA election, he said: "Yes. I am stopping then. That means that I may support a limit to the time in office as president."
The 60-year-old will become the ninth president of FIFA and the third from France if he is successful in the 2016 election.
