Sir Alex Ferguson played role in West Bromwich Albion signing Jonny Evans

West Bromwich Albion coach Tony Pulis has revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson played a role in the club signing Jonny Evans from Manchester United.
The Irishman signed a four-year deal with the Baggies on Saturday following an 11-year spell at Old Trafford.

Pulis has claimed that Evans's former manager Ferguson recommended that West Brom lure him to The Hawthorns.
"I spoke to Sir Alex," the Daily Star quotes Pulis as saying. "Obviously we have got [Darren] Fletcher and [James] Chester was there with him as well.
"There are a lot of people who have given him a really good mention. He needs to play. He needs to be at a football club where he is going to be a regular and a mainstay. He hasn't had that yet."
Evans made 198 appearances for United during his time with the former Premier League champions.
