Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has confirmed in a statement on the club's website that The Toffees have rejected John Stones's transfer request amidst ongoing speculation of a move to Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho's side have so far had two bids rejected for the England centre-back and Everton manager Roberto Martinez insisted yesterday that the club absolutely would not sanction the sale of the defender.
This has proven to be correct, with Everton publishing a statement on their website in the last few minutes confirming that Stones's transfer request had been turned down.
In a post signed off with Kenwright's name, the club wrote: "Everton Football Club has rejected a transfer request from John Stones.
"Since the start of the transfer window, we have resolutely turned down offers from another Premier League football club for our player.
"John is not for sale and he will remain a highly valued member of our first team squad."
Stones started for Everton in the 5-3 League Cup victory over Barnsley last night despite his request and rumours of an improved £40m bid from Chelsea.
