Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas has offered his support to Manchester United's Victor Valdes, after the former Barcelona player was frozen out by manager Louis van Gaal.
The 34-year-old - who recently departed Real Madrid for the Portuguese giants - insists he is shocked at the situation Valdes is currently in at Old Trafford, but believes the 33-year-old will soon find a successful resolution.
Speaking to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, Casillas said: "I want to send all my support and a lot of encouragement to Victor. This is proof that at times football is ungrateful. He deserves to find a solution soon because of the type of player he is.
"Had they told us a year-and-a-half ago that he would be in this situation, no one would have believed it. Obviously, no one wishes him that. I know he will come out of this situation because he has a privileged mind and I really hope he comes out of this.
"I'm certain he will succeed because we all get back to enjoying ourselves [after leaving a club]."
Valdes has made just two appearances for United after joining the club on a free transfer in January.
